A Brief Overview
The Admin Director, Accountable Care ("Admin Director") drives strategic planning and operational management for Accountable Care initiatives. This role spans both Stanford Health Care (SHC) and Stanford Medicine Partners (SMP) and will report to the VP, Health Plan Operations. This position leads the development of the enterprise Accountable Care strategy, drives operational management of key governing bodies for Accountable Care, and leads execution of identified initiatives. This role works with the VP to develop transformative initiatives to advance the organization's strategy to create a value-based health care organization. This role will work with Stanford Medicine departments to cultivate in-depth relationships with operational and clinical team members, including regular meetings to set strategic priorities, report results, and monitor costs, ultimately to drive shared savings and identify opportunities for growth.

What you will do
  • Governance Management
  • Develop and manage structure and communication for the Accountable Care governing bodies, including regulatory and contractual bodies as required (e.g. MSSP ACO Board of Directors, Operating Boards and Management Committees, etc.)
  • Lead the creation of structures and communication for key external bodies engaged in Accountable Care, including payer joint operating committees (JOCs).
  • Establish and facilitate governance, providing all planning and leadership support to ensure success.
  • Serve as the leader to coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure required functions are conducted in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Strategy and Planning
  • Lead the development of, and updates to, the enterprise Accountable Care strategic plan. Collaborate closely with Clinical and Operational leadership, Market Development, and other key stakeholders as required
  • Lead the research and preparation of presentations, proposals, financial models, etc. Make key presentations and recommendations to leadership.
  • As appropriate, identify and cultivate relationships with local partners, health information exchanges, and other health care organizations that would present new business opportunities.
  • Have and maintain a deep understanding of, and expertise in, all CMS value-based payment model proposed and final rules/regulations including MSSP ACOs, Medicare Advantage, Direct Contracting, Primary Care First, CPC+, BPCI-A and other CMS models.
  • Be one of the key leaders of the Accountable Care team supporting the continued identification of ways Stanford Medicine can expand our current CMS value arrangements or develop new CMS value models.
  • Operational Management
  • Lead the development of the Accountable Care operating plan, including definition of goals, prioritization of initiatives, and financial and operational target setting
  • Monitor and manage key deliverables of the operating plans, including opportunity assessments, proposed solution concepts, implementation models, and effectiveness reporting
  • In collaboration with clinical and operational leadership, lead the definition and implementation of requisite program management and organizational infrastructure to support execution against goals
  • Collaborate with internal analytics teams and external vendors and consultants (where appropriate) to provide regular performance reporting to senior leadership team.
  • Lead programs and projects directly under the guidance of the Accountable Care leadership team, including program management for our CMMI programs, build-buy-partner analyses, etc.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments to implement identified interventions, providing the business and finance lens to the organization
  • Work closely with clinical leadership to monitor utilization of health care services and overall quality of care.
  • Communication
  • Communicate effectively and assertively with all levels of entities engaged in Accountable Care initiatives, provider partners and other participants.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments to implement business strategies.
  • All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree healthcare administration or related field Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • * 7 years progressive experience in value-based care, to include experience with Clinically Integrated Networks, CMMI programs (such as MSSP), and Total Cost of Care contracts. * Strategic thinking and business acumen with the demonstrated ability to align programmatic focus areas with business objectives. * Operational focus with demonstrated data analysis/interpretation acumen, project management, change management, and execution skills. * Extensive knowledge of managed healthcare systems, medical quality assurance, quality improvement and risk management. * Ability to lead with influence in setting of matrixed accountabilities. * Experience in contributing to the development of accountable care incentive models for physicians and care teams. * Advanced leadership and communication skills to effectively operate in the complex, matrixed environment of an academic health system * Appreciation of cultural diversity and sensitivity towards target population. * Excellent presentation skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $106.01 - $140.47 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
