FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Physical Therapy at Hunter College, The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for the position of Doctoral Lecturer beginning August 2026. This primarily teaching position seeks a candidate with strong clinical expertise, specialization in adult neurologic physical therapy preferred. Primary responsibilities include teaching in areas of expertise and ancillary courses in the curriculum, including both primary, co-instruction and lab assisting, and service to the program.
The Doctoral Lecturer line is eligible for a Certificate of Continued Employment at Hunter College after 5 years of successful re-appointments with a record of excellence in teaching and service to the department, college and the profession.

The program enjoys over 10,000 square feet of newly built and dedicated space that includes teaching classroom/laboratory space equipped with state-of-the-art teaching technology, private individual faculty offices, a Movement Analysis Lab with state-of-the-art technology including Vicon TM motion tracking system, Zeno TM walkway system, AMTI TM portable and fixed force plates, and all the technology and support to meet individual teaching and research needs. Faculty have access to the New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences (NYSIM) and inter-professional teaching opportunities across CUNY campuses.

About the Hunter College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
The DPT Program is part of the Hunter College School of Health Professions, located in a newly renovated space at the main campus on the upper east side of Manhattan.
The department covers faculty expenses for:
• APTA and academy memberships
• Professional conference registration, travel and lodging
• Continuing education
• Teaching technology
• Research equipment unique to your scholarly activities

All faculty proudly engage in active clinical practice and are allowed up to 7.5 hours per week during academic semesters for clinical practice. Given the 9-month appointment, faculty enjoy summers off to engage in additional clinical practice, scholarly activities, paid adjunct teaching, and personal time off.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications
• Doctor of Physical Therapy degree
• At least 5 years of clinical experience in adult neurologic physical therapy in the US
• Teaching experience at an accredited Physical Therapy program in the US
• Active PT license in the US and eligibility for licensure in New York State
• A demonstrated commitment to collegiality, shared responsibility, and collaborative work
Preferred Qualifications
• Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS)
• An interest in scholarship and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution required
• The ability to integrate technology into instruction and be open to a variety of course delivery methods
• History of active participation in the American Physical Therapy Association and/or other professional leadership experiences

COMPENSATION
This is a doctoral lecturer position with salary commensurate with experience, with a maximum salary of $ 62,241- $94,967, as per the PSC contract.
